An excellent review of the state of things in 1960 Chicago as well as the nation. Kup does a pretty good job of describing the world of politics, art, religion, crime, race and sports as it exists at that moment. It is n honest milepost to gauge against the political assassinations along with the race riots that destroyed many neighborhoods in Chicago just a few years later as well as in other big cities along with the change in how people conducted themselves as a result.
The writing style is very much of that belonging to a newspaperman. Short, to-the-point sentences that mostly state facts.
This is a very good book to obtain even if you are not a student of urban history.
